Tasks

-Completion of fit-for-purpose designs that meet the client’s needs and requests. -You will regularly interface with other disciplines and departments to execute projects. -Lighting design and modelling -Development and completion of power systems analysis models using ETAP, EasyPower and/or SKM. -You will be responsible for the review and analysis of drawings for possible safety and constructability problems prior to issuance to clients. -Hoisting System Process Control and Interfaces -Process Piping Systems (Dewatering, Fuel Delivery, Compressed Air, Process Water) -Mine wide power distribution and capacitive charging current/ground potential rise assessments -Power system design and analysis in accordance with applicable codes for surface and underground mining operations. -You will provide clients with engineering support to meet their needs and incorporate client suggestions for future requirements in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner. This position is intended to be client facing and includes attending client meetings, which may at times be remote, as well as corresponding directly with the client. -Preparation of quality reports and calculation packages as project deliverables. -Ground system design and ground grid testing -Incorporation of innovation, optimization, and standardization in designs as appropriate considering constructability and economics. -Mine infrastructure design including switch rooms, messenger, tray, shaft/borehole cable installations -Report project progression updates and/or issues to Discipline Leads, Area Managers or Project Managers. -You will work with a team of engineers and designers in the planning and execution of project work, including scoping, asset integrity assessments, as-built documentation, feasibility studies, and detailed engineering. You will provide technical support during construction and commissioning. -Completing inspections and condition assessments for electrical and communications infrastructure (this may include climbing ladders and walking / standing for extended periods of time).

What You Bring

-Demonstrated leadership skills and project engineering experience. -20-30 years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry, particularly surface or underground mining. -Ability to take the lead on a project team and mentor junior staff members. -Part-time office presence is a requirement -Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. -Professional Engineering license is required. -Excellent knowledge of applicable design codes and familiarity with Mine Safety and Health Administration Regulations. -Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent interpersonal abilities and willingness to work in a team atmosphere. -Self-starter, with the ability to handle change and work with minimal supervision. You must be a contemplative person who is willing to challenge your own work as well as the work of those around you. -Previous experience as a Lead Engineer on detailed engineering/construction projects with a consulting firm or Owner’s team. -Willingness to travel to client sites or other Stantec offices (~10% travel).
