Tasks

-Provide oversight and direction of department or business unit including strategy, budgeting, staff, and deliverables. -Serve as technical advisor by providing senior level input and evaluation on projects. -Secure repeat business from existing clients and identifying new clients. -Supervise the work of Project Managers when needed. -Oversee all surveying activities, including review of all project changes, pending or anticipated alterations to the contract, additional work requests, and all other factors, which may significantly affect staffing requirements or budget. -Supervise work of all survey project personnel to ensure it meets the highest professional standards. -Meet with prospective clients, prepare proposals, and establish budgets and schedules. -Collect outstanding monies due from assigned clients. -Compile project status reports. -Coordinate with other internal departments to meet project requirements. -Assist with the marketing of the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients. -Review job cost sheets/prepare monthly billings. Ensure assigned projects stay within budget allocation. -Participate in and formulate marketing presentations and attend marketing meetings. -Receive broad guidance from senior-level management relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and general parameters for execution. Manage people and processes to ensure effective execution. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance. -Maintain close liaison with clients to resolve all project questions, such as, but not limited to, technical requirements, completion requirements and billing inquiries. -Define the scope of multiple, complex projects and develop plan to accomplish land survey projects. Monitor progress toward deliverable schedules.

What You Bring

-Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). -Effective verbal and written communication skills. -Professional Land Surveying registration. -Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds. -Highly motivated and problem-solving attitude. -Strong Survey Business Acumen - Prepare Proposals, RFP responses, Desire to pursue Business Development - Survey Accounting - Includes billing, project reports and collections. -Strong sense of urgency in responding to constituents. -Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Carlson principles. -Ten or more (10+) years of land surveying or related land development experience to include a minimum of two (2) years project management experience. -Must be licensed surveyor in relevant state. -Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds. -Frequent and prolonged use of data collection equipment and/or drones, necessitating walking the assigned study area to complete data collection over the course of several hours. -Strong Local Jurisdictional Knowledge for Plat preparation and approval. -Basic understanding of financial reports and metrics. -Strong marketing/business development skills and mindset. -Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder. -Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business. -Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying or related field preferred. -Strong work ethic and commitment to quality. -Experience managing a Survey Department is preferred. -Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. -Self-reliance and ability to operate independently with limited direction.
