Tasks

-Conducts construction evaluation, ensuring the unit complies with the construction section of the standard; identifies rationale for compliance or non-compliance. -Reviews test data, reports and authorizes application of Certification Marks. Prepares and / or signs Certification Reports and Certificates of Compliance. -Verifies the reports, evaluation and calculations of others. Is able to verify the evaluation details and data recorded are consistent with results of measurements. -Keeps the Product Group Manager or Team Leader or Assistant Operations Manager informed of project status as required, pointing out major problems and non-compliance. -Accountable for including the Technical Advisor or Certification Specialist in product / technical discussions that are unique to CSA or to the experience of the individual. This aids the Technical Advisor and Certification Specialist to further advance consistency of practices and to provide guidance at the front-end of the process. -Supports and mentors more junior staff in effective, clear and accurate communication and company expectations of responsiveness to clients -Provides client with assistance in solving problems / failures without divulging proprietary information. -As required may participates in CSA Technical Network, Technical Panel and may support documentation development. -Reads, interprets and develops engineering drawings -Provides client feedback to Managers, Team Leader or Sales representatives. -Collaborates with Lab Technician to create a work order which test are required and; the order of the tests and the number of samples required. -Independently manages certification projects concurrently ensuring compliance with all applicable safety requirements achieving completion within time frames and cost deadlines. Evaluates products against requirements of the national / international standards and precedent decisions. -Evaluates and qualifies companies in the administration of Certification Programs. Reviews customer test methods and systems; reviews new / old product designs and all applicable documentation. Ensures all test equipment and quality procedures are within guidelines. Provides technical briefings on new and existing requirements. Authorizes application and / or removal of the CSA Mark. -Provides guidance to others in writing their technical reports and can demonstrate understanding of the process and accreditation requirements of reports and certification documents. -Works with sales to support current clients and develop new client opportunities to support growth. -Maintains accurate, orderly and complete test data. May be required to oversee laboratory tests. Analyzes test results and determines compliance. May identify reasons for inconsistencies between data and expected results. Conducts construction evaluation, ensuring the unit complies with the construction section of the standard; identifies rationale for compliance or non-compliance. -Provides necessary guidance to Lab Technicians to ensure proper application of requirements and data collections methods are in line. -Participate in CSA Group Continuous Improvement and Innovation projects. -Makes recommendations on new programs / equipment to expand core capabilities. -Use of various lab equipment, instruments and tools -Prepares project quotations for cost and time. Classifies product by use, environment and function. Determines applicable requirements / test / standards. Determines sample requirements and method / location for testing / evaluation best suited to customers’ needs. -Evaluates products at the customer facility. Witnesses tests performed by the customer on their products. -Prepares Test Lab Work Orders and Special Testing Documentation that includes details regarding applicable sections of relevant standards, test sample plan, data collection methods and tables, Job Hazard Analysis, and any other instructions. -Explains the different product certifications programs available to clients and the requirements for control of production. -Provides guidance to others on good housekeeping of tools, equipment and work areas -Provides technical information service to external and internal customers including those forwarded by the Client Service Center. Liaison with customers in the design stage to ensure requirements of national / international standards are met without compromising confidentiality. Provides technical guidance and training. Answers inquiries regarding standards and legal requirements. -Generates ideas to improve laboratory safety -Becomes fully knowledgeable in all national / international standards through research of standards, documentation, bulletins and technical articles in area of specialty. Recommends revisions to ensure technical consistency to resolve issues of pertinent practices, processes and precedents.

-The Certifier III is subject to internal audits for compliance and competence. -Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with likely 6 or more years of job related experience; or Degree / Diploma in Engineering Technology or related technical field with 8 or more years experience -May be qualified to perform (CB) Report reviews and conduct Category Audits. -Demonstrates the ability to consistently manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining on-time and on-budget performance. -Knowledge of CSA, UL and IEC Standards -Strong organizational, time and project management skills to complete job tasks independently and in a time-efficient manner -Demonstrates the ability to correctly interpret the results from the tests with only minimal guidance and supervision. -Ability to work unsupervised, in a team-based work environment -Thorough knowledge of CSA certification options, programs and services applicable to a variety of equipment -High level of interpersonal and communication skills; customer service skills, strong problem-solving ability; detail oriented -Demonstrates a good knowledge of a variety of standards, codes; technical background; troubleshooting electronic equipment. -Demonstrates technical competency in their respective certification programs. -Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office) -Thorough knowledge of Standards and testing procedures -Demonstrates the ability to compile evaluation record, data and summary test results into forms, templates and checklists without the need for supervision. -Demonstrates technical competency to review the work of others.
