Overview

Design and analyze building façade systems using modeling, simulation, and CAD tools.

Tasks

-Undertake engineering façade calculations with various materials, including structural glass, aluminum, stainless steel, wood, stone, and precast concrete -Carry out structural, thermal, and solar modeling of building enclosure details and systems -Perform technical reviews of shop drawings and construction administration submittals to ensure air, water, thermal, seismic, acoustic, optical and structural performance -Engage with teams of architects and engineers focused on the 3D modeling (geometrical and detailing) of complex facades -Give structure to facades concepts / ideas – sketching, reports, sketchbooks, spreadsheets, and analyses for discussion with Architects and Clients -Utilize advanced analysis programs and techniques (finite element) to understand building envelope physics and façade design -Produce details and drawings using various 2-D and 3-D CAD and graphics packages -Carry out mock-up, factory and field inspections and investigations -Interpret specifications and design documents and write reports summarizing conditions

What You Bring

-Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related Building Science discipline -Must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future. -Good sketching skills and an ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible and visual way -Recent and soon-to-be graduates: Whether you’ve just graduated or are graduating before the role starts, we want to hear from you if your degree is in a relevant field. -FE/EIT certification -Structural software skills, AutoCAD skills, 3D modeling skills (Rhino, Revit, etc.) -Membership in ASHRAE, ASME, AIA, ASCE, or Society of Facade Engineering -Coursework in façade engineering / building envelope physics / energy/thermal modeling skills -Master’s degree with emphasis on Architecture or Engineering -Innovative minds: We’re looking for critical thinkers who embrace new ideas and challenge the status quo. -Internship experience with a design firm
