Tasks

The Director of Accounting for Kodiak Building Partners will oversee the corporate accounting functions of Financial Reporting, Audit & Compliance for all Kodiak and its operations companies. This individual will oversee and review the work of team members, and assist in their development and training, as well continuously improving the department’s processes and procedures. This position will report to the Controller. This is a great opportunity for an experienced candidate to work for a growing company. -Oversee the monthly, quarterly and annual preparation and analysis of financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards like GAAP. -Build and maintain strong relationships with operational leadership and external partners to support collaboration and strategic alignment. -Manage, lead, train and assist in the development of manager level employees to maintain a high level of employee commitment and competence for sustained and self-reliant performance and achievement of the business platform and the company goals. -Work cross-functionally with other departments to increase financial reporting accuracy. -Oversee the development, improvement and documentation internal policies & procedures to ensure compliance and the highest integrity of the Company’s results.

What You Bring

-Must be able to move between departments within the company facility -Travel requirements: Travel up to 20% by car and/or plane to the operating companies -Professional written and verbal communication as well as great interpersonal skills -Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required -Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally -Strong understanding of accounting theory/GAAP and ability to perform research as necessary -Work requires professional written and verbal communication as well as great interpersonal skills -Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer -Regular travel required (up to 20%) -Self-motivated as well as strong leadership traits and skills -Regular in-person attendance is required Monday through Thursday -Must be detail oriented, and technically minded -Relevant industry experience, building or distribution or real estate industry preferred -10+ years of accounting experience preferred with a minimum of 3 years in supervisory role. -Ability to meet strict deadlines and prioritize -Customer focused (i.e., generating accurate and timely results and effectively and timely communicating to customers, colleagues, and management) -Proficient use of MS Office Suite, specifically Excel required -Strong ability to problem solve -Experience with learning new financial accounting systems -Strong research and reconciliation skills required -Knowledge and exposure to multi-company organizations a plus
