Overview

Support building systems design, drafting, and calculations under supervision.

Tasks

-Shares time and effort with others -Keeps up with industry and/or discipline standards -Partners with experienced engineering and design staff to understand client requirements and scope of work. -Occasionally participates in client, company and/or industry events. -Engages others when tackling an unfamiliar task or responsibility -Acts as a liaison to inform engineering and design teams of client and architect questions and relays responses. -Supports the review of shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications. -Research and reviews new products, industry trends and evolving codes and standards, asking questions as needed to ensure understanding and potential for application opportunities. -Takes steps to ensure work is done correctly -Assists with engineering calculations as directed. -May support business development or pursuit activities under direct supervision. -Fosters a client-centric mindset and approach. -Maintains best practice throughout all job functions -Keeps others informed conveying information clearly and with an appropriate level of detail -Prepares design documents under the supervision of experienced engineering and design staff. -Identifies and seeks to fill gaps in industry and/or discipline knowledge on a continuous basis. -Delivers on client expectations -May visit job sites for observation and learning and development opportunities.

What You Bring

-Exposure to engineering design fundamentals; fundamental knowledge of the A&E industry, codes, design guides and standards. Knowledge may be applicable to a limited range of practice, project or program types. -Team oriented and willingness and ability to function in a highly collaborative environment and in group projects. -Ability to receive constructive feedback and adjust to coaching. -Listens attentively to others and takes an interest in what they have to say -Bachelor's degree in relevant field of engineering (ie: mechanical, electrical, fire protection or architectural) and one year of experience or 2 years of experience without degree required. -High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. -Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer. -Familiarity with Revit and Bluebeam Revu preferred. -Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills. -High technical aptitude: ability to learn, understand and utilize various systems and processes. -Relevant internship experience preferred. -Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and engineering design software applicable to your discipline or focus. -Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner. -Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam preferred. -Recognizes routine problems and identify solutions -Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies as described and characterized in this job description. -Occasional travel may be required (10-15%). -Ability to read, write and communicate in English. -Acquires knowledge and fundamentals of common industry software, including Revit, Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office products.
