Overview
Conduct advanced SCDOT roadway inspections ensuring compliance with plans and specs.

Tasks
-Ensure strict adherence to company safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and environmental requirements, promoting a culture of workplace safety and compliance. -Participate in project meetings and site walkthroughs, discussing progress, challenges, and compliance-related issues with stakeholders. -Coordinate and communicate effectively with contractors, subcontractors, and field personnel to ensure construction activities align with engineering plans, schedules, and regulatory compliance. -Compile detailed inspection reports, diagrams, and findings with minimal oversight. -Verify structural components, including soil compaction, foundation construction, concrete placement, asphalt paving, and other key construction elements, ensuring they meet DOT design and engineering standards. -Maintain comprehensive inspection reports, including daily logs, photographs, test results, field notes, and project documentation per DOT requirements to track progress, site conditions, and any encountered issues. -Assist in preparing final project closeout documentation, ensuring all required inspections and quality checks are completed. -Perform detailed on-site inspections and field tests of soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt and other materials to ensure compliance with approved DOT engineering plans, specifications, and safety regulations.

What You Bring
-Proficiency in interpreting construction plans, blueprints, and specifications with the ability to analyze and apply engineering principles. -Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with engineers, contractors, and stakeholders. -ACI Concrete Field Technician – Grade I -This position requires travel, approximately up to 60% of the time, in support of business objectives and client engagements. -Moderate to loud noise levels, common in active construction and industrial environments. -Preferred Professional Industry Certifications: -Ability to bend, twist, reach, stoop, pull, kneel, climb, balance, lift, carry, and push as required for fieldwork and inspections. -Frequent use of hands and arms for typing, handling tools, and operating equipment. -Ability to stand, walk, drive, and operate equipment for extended periods. -Ability to use your senses to see (including close, distant, and peripheral vison, depth vision, and ability to focus) smell, hear, touch (use hands to reach climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit). -Ability to speak and hear effectively to communicate in noisy environments and with project teams. -Ability to accurately perform field and laboratory tests with minimal supervision. -2-5 years of SCDOT field and/or inspection experience is required. -Familiarity with inspection and reporting software tools. -SCDOT Earthwork Technician -Ability to work independently and collaboratively in both field and office environments, adapting to changing project demands. -Exposure to environmental elements including dirt, dust, sun, heat, humidity, and adverse weather conditions. -Flexibility to travel within the designated region as needed to support inspections, compliance efforts, and business operations is a must. -SCDOT Concrete Field Technician – Level I -Minimum 2+ years of construction inspection experience in infrastructure, transportation, geotechnical, or environmental projects (civil engineering degree holders with FE/EIT certification encouraged to apply). -SCDOT Asphalt Roadway Technician -Excellent working knowledge of construction materials, methods, and quality control procedures to ensure adherence to design and industry standards. -Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; ability to travel to job sites as needed. -Adherence to all company safety protocols and use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work. -Ability to lift and/or carry 35 to 75 lbs. up to 75 feet, involving regular repetitive motion. -Required Professional Industry Certifications: -High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred.
