Mechanical Test Engineer

Overview

Design and execute testing programs for steel solar frame components.

Tasks

-Research and design testing equipment and test rigs -Work with external testing labs to perform tests according to test plans -Oversee NEXTracker test technicians performing experiments -Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of issues discovered during all phases of testing as well as Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA) -Participate in brainstorming sessions with the product design engineering team to identify concepts and designs for future improvements -Evaluate and recommend consultants, equipment, and tests -Develop and track testing programs related to steel frame technology -Travel to consultant testing facilities and manufacturing facilities -Author detailed test plans and testing reports -Perform minor fabrication work for use in exploratory testing -Provide input to product design engineers on frame design requirements

What You Bring

-Practical knowledge of prototyping manufacturing process -Programming fluency in a data analysis application -B.S. or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field (advanced degree preferred) -Fluent mandarin speaker -Must possess excellent writing and record keeping skills -Familiarity with IEC and UL testing standards -5+ years of relevant experience -Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. -Proficiency in using laboratory instruments, sensors, and data acquisition systems. -Strong data analysis skills in excel -Experience with LabVIEW -Strong track record planning and executing testing campaigns -Previous experience working for or closely with testing labs, preferably for solar -Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. -Experience working in Solar, preferably in module or racking design -Strong aptitude and intuition in mechanical failure analysis -Confluence, Arena, Miro (Real Time board), Jira -Knowledge/experience with drawings, model and tolerance standards and application. -Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed. -Hands-on background in test design, prototyping, and pilot runs.
