Tasks
-Prepare special engineering studies or reports required by certain bid items or conditions. Consult with clients/owners on various problems discovered during bid preparation, design/construction schedule changes, to ensure estimate stays on track. -Review and assist with proposals and other documentation to prepare cost estimates. Review all bid and contract documents and home office legal department opinions. -Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. -Stay abreast of trends and developments, such as new equipment, methods and procedures that are developing in the industry. -Provide leadership and strategy in subcontractor and vendor selection process; May lead small estimating teams and lead estimates for projects. -Participate in constructability reviews, Collaborate with project managers, design engineers, superintendents, clients and other Kiewit districts to align expectations, phasing and scheduling of the work to ensure accuracy within the estimate. -Conduct site investigation prior to forming a plan of operations to identify any problems or conditions of an unusual nature that may be present. -Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required. -Review owner plans and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project; develop plan for the actual construction to serve as basis for the estimate. -Develop and Lead complete estimates for self-performed construction scopes of work for design/build, design/bid/build and EPC projects for infrastructure projects (Heavy Civil, Highway, Bridge, Rail/Transit, Utilities, Drainage, Aviation)

What You Bring
-Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment. -Regular, reliable attendance -BS in engineering, construction, estimating or similar field, and a minimum of 10+ years' related estimating infrastructure experience. Ideal candidate has demonstrated experience with estimating infrastructure self-performed construction projects (civil, earthwork, drainage, structural/bridge, grading, concrete, form-work, asphalt, underground utilities). If no degree, a minimum of 14 years experience combined in Estimating, Field Construction/Superintendent experience required -Exceptionally strong attention to detail, communication, interpersonal and leadership skills -Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Work, Outlook, PowerPoint) and proficient with various estimating tools and eager to learn "InEight" -Work productively and meet deadlines timely -Ability to go to site locations as required for walkdowns, and other estimating related functions -Experience leading estimates and small estimating teams, providing coaching/mentoring is required at this level -Ability to perform estimating duties as outlined above, ability to consult with stakeholders in bid preparation, and interface with clients and perform preconstruction functions. -Become proficient in Kiewit’s estimating program, “InEight Estimate”.
