-Effectively manages utilization of nursing supplies. -Presents an active presence/mentoring staff and overseeing the provision of quality care. -Leads in the coordination and implementation of best practices and risk management initiatives related to resident care needs and the Home. -Collaboratively works with various members of the team to accomplish goals. -Initiates investigative and corrective actions related to occupational health and safety. works with WSIB claims and return to work plans (preferred). -Assumes responsibility for the nursing department. -Maintains a system of care assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation at the resident and unit program level.
-Degree/Diploma in Nursing as a Registered Nurse. -Is knowledgeable concerning the MOH Regulations and the FLTC Act. -Current C.P.R. designation is required -Able to initiate investigations/CIS’s/follow up with staff/families initiated to ensure risks are identified/addressed with interventions/documentation updated/ongoing diligence with Home/MOL is completed as per the regulations. -Ability to meet budgetary goals (budget restraints). -Understanding of Occupational Health & Safety concepts and requirements -Understanding of human resource and financial management -All applicants must successfully complete a Vulnerable Sector Check completed within 6 months of hire date -Knowledge of evidence-based practices and/or, if there are none, prevailing practices -TB skin test or Chest X-ray - completed within 1 year of hire date -Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario. -Minimum of one (1) year of experience working as a Registered Nurse in a managerial or supervisory capacity in a long-term care setting. -Minimum of three (3) years of experience working as a Registered Nurse in the long-term care.
