The Role

Overview

Lead M/E projects from preconstruction to finish, overseeing budget, schedule, safety, and team.

Tasks

-Plans, directs, and coordinates construction activities for mechanical and electrical industrial projects. -Lead project team in daily field coordination meeting, weekly block schedule meeting and monthly safety kickoff meeting. -Establish work plan and staffing for each phase of project - arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel. -Represent company in Owner progress meetings. -Reviews project proposals or plans to determine the timeframe, funding limitations, project procedures, staffing requirements, and available resources to various phases of project. -Apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance -Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems. -Manage financial aspects of contracts and be responsible for project profit or loss. -Reviews status reports from project personnel and modifies schedules/plans as needed. -Manages Project Engineers, Superintendents and Foremen who supervise construction employees; charged with overall direction, coordination and evaluation of team. -Ensures that project goals are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. -Coordinates project activities with activities of governmental agencies and subcontractors. -Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure work progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget. -Supervisory responsibilities, in accordance with policies and applicable laws, include, interviewing/hiring; training; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding/disciplining; addressing complaints/resolving problems. -Mentoring and assist with career development of other team members. -Prepares project reports for management, clients, or others. -Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction. -Initiate and maintain liaison with prime clients to facilitate construction activities. -Monitor/control construction through administrative direction of on-site Superintendent to ensure project is built safely, on schedule, and within budget. -Confers with project staff to outline work plan, assign duties/responsibilities and authority. -Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy.

What You Bring

-Superior communication and interpersonal skills essential -Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities vital -Understand and interpret safety laws and company policies/standards. -Understands and can analyze and execute CPM-based project schedules. -Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or construction management -Ability to assure responsibility, interface, and communicate effectively with others. -10+ years’ experience/knowledge of construction, design, finance, and management required -PE credentialing is not required but is a strong plus
