Tasks

You will lead the design, development, and delivery of Electrical, Control & Instrumentation systems across technically demanding projects. You will ensure that system architectures are robust, compliant, and aligned with both customer requirements and regulatory standards. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, and clients to define specifications, resolve complex technical challenges, and deliver high-integrity control systems that support safe, reliable, and efficient operation of bespoke engineered solutions. -Lead the full lifecycle of EC&I systems design, from concept and specification through to commissioning and handover. -Define Electrical control system architectures, specify equipment such as cabling and instrumentation, and lead hardware and software integration activities. -Act as a mentor to junior engineers, fostering technical growth and promoting knowledge sharing across the team. -Support installation and commissioning activities, including troubleshooting and site acceptance testing (SAT). -Coordinate with mechanical, structural, and safety engineering teams to ensure integrated and cohesive system design. -Conduct and lead design reviews, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and customer specifications. -Manage third-party suppliers and panel builders, providing technical oversight throughout procurement, manufacture, and FAT. -Support bids and proposals with technical insight, concept designs, and cost/time estimates for EC&I scope. -Liaise directly with clients to clarify technical requirements, report progress, and resolve emerging issues throughout the project lifecycle. -Prepare and approve detailed engineering documentation including: -Promote continuous improvement across EC&I processes, templates, and design tools. -Contribute to project planning and risk management by providing technical inputs to project managers and planners.

What You Bring

-Hands-on experience in electrical panel design and PLC programming. -Skilled in technical documentation, stakeholder communication, and supplier management. -Knowledge of Functional Safety standards (e.g. BS EN 61508, BS EN 62061, BS EN 13849). -Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working toward professional registration. -Demonstrable ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams and coordinate with other engineering disciplines. -Familiarity with PLC/HMI software and interface logic using platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell, or Schneider. -Working knowledge of PLC/HMI systems (e.g. Siemens S7/TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, Schneider EcoStruxure). -Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation, or a related discipline. -Substantial experience in delivering EC&I systems in complex or safety-regulated environments. -Solid understanding of control system principles, instrumentation, motor control, and variable speed drives (VSDs). -Control Philosophy and Functional Design Specifications (FDS) -Competence with safety and verification tools such as SISTEMA or Amtech. -Full UK driving licence (travel between offices and client sites required). -Proficient in producing electrical drawings using CAD tools (e.g. EPLAN, ElectricalOM, AutoCAD Electrical). -Experience in high-integrity or regulated sectors such as Nuclear, Defence, or Aerospace. -Familiarity with applicable standards and regulations such as -Electrical Schematics and General Arrangements

Benefits

Salary: £50,000-£75,000 commensurate with experience
