The Role

Overview

Perform gas utility tasks: leak surveys, meter inspection, service activation, maintenance.

Tasks

-Deactivates gas service and assists in the activation of gas service -Conducts regular meter inspections, paints and maintenance of above- and below-ground gas systems -Works assigned route to complete customer and compliance orders in accordance with company policies and procedures and operator qualifications procedures -Provides assistance with all distribution activities involved with the installation, repair and maintenance of the distribution system -Completes basic tasks using hand tools, including leak investigation, assisting in mechanical joining, landscape maintenance and traffic control -Utilizes internal tooling and equipment to complete all leak survey activities

What You Bring

-Must be able to read at normal comprehensive level. -Must be mechanically inclined. -Must be able to write and print legibly. -Must have a valid Florida Driver's License and obtain a Florida Commercial Driver's License Class "B" with endorsement code "X", without air brake restrictions, within 180 days after hire and must pass a D.O.T. (Department of Transportation) Physical every two (2) years or Class “A” with air brakes dependent upon company location. -Must be capable and willing to obtain certification to render first aid, artificial resuscitation, etc. -Required to be On Call Duty rotation. -Must be able and willing to direct the work of others in equal or lower classifications. -Must be capable of reading gauges and meters. -Must be in good physical condition and capable of doing manual labor. -Must be willing to participate in Company provided training programs. -Must possess tact and suitable personality for customer contact. -Must be able to read street maps and travel to dispatched locations. -Must have a keen sense of smell and adequate hearing and eyesight. -Must be capable of utilizing telephone. -Must be capable of being trained in using all types of equipment and instruments associated with performance of duties. -Must be certified to perform P.E. heat fused and mechanical joints. -Must be willing and able to work overtime as required. -Must be familiar with federal, state and local rules and regulations applicable to their job. -Must be able to pass the training requirements outlined in the Training Grid associated with this position.
