Tasks

-Development of related standards application guidance and position documents for standards application -Programming and testing advanced protection and automation systems with peer-to-peer communications. -Development of protection & control standard settings, logic, and control templates -Hands on testing within relay lab, field lab, factory and field acceptance testing of new and existing concepts, working with switchgear, relays, and control components -Integration of various sensing, control, automation, communications, and protection capabilities into technical standard solution systems

What You Bring

-Familiarity with SEL Quickset software suites. -A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree. -Experience in the utility industry. -Related experience with Integration of power plant, distributed resources, or major industrial/commercial/government customer load facilities. -Proficient in principles of project management. -Experience developing/programming relay and control design templates, including development of system protection relay settings and logic. -Familiarity/experience with OMICRON test equipment and associated Test Universe software. -Familiarity with communication control concepts, such as SCADA. -Familiarity with related industry standards, such as ANSI (Associated Electric Systems Interface), IEEEE 519 Harmonics: IEC 61850 Communication networks and systems for power utility automation. -This position will be hired at either a level III or Senior level based on experience* -A master’s degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree -Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience or 5 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer. -Minimum of four (4) years of engineering experience -Experience performing system protection and coordination studies. -Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills. -Related Transmission Protection and Control Experience. -Experience integrating and testing protection and control systems. -Close working cooperation with peer team leads for Distribution Enterprise System Protection Team and team members within DPAC ES, peers in the Equipment and Construction Standards team, PGO Asset Management Governance, and stakeholders within PGO Asset Management -Incumbents should have the knowledge and experience with the ability to design, create standards, and evaluate system protection and control solutions for medium voltage distribution systems (4kV-36kV class). -In addition to required degree, six (6) years minimum required related experience -Bachelor of Science in Engineering obtained from an ABET accredited program, OR a master’s degree in Engineering in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering -SME input into training and work method related documentation and training artifacts -Registered Professional Engineer (PE). -Familiarity/experience with advanced protocols, IEC 61850 GOOSE, DNP3.0, including programming and testing advanced protection and automation systems with peer-to-peer communications. -Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program -Proficient in engineering theories and principles. -Familiarity/experience with SEL protection automation controls/relays (SEL-651R, SEL-487, SEL-451, SEL 751) and associated configuration software. -Experience performing factory acceptance and field acceptance testing of systems. -Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations. -Related Distribution field engineering experience. -Experience creating standards, standard settings templates, and application guides. -Must have obtained Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or PE. -Related Distribution Protection Automation Control Experience.
