Tasks
-Performs engineering tasks associated with critical engineering projects or a number of small projects with many complex features. (50%) -Performs assignments in areas where engineering precedents are incomplete, lacking or require broad experience. (30%) -Provides recommendations to management and implements action plans to improve performance and cost effectiveness. -Provides detailed technical training, mentorship, peer review, and/or guidance to others. -Evaluates, develops, implements, and leads projects that have significant financial and operational impact. -May serve as an expert for organization in a specific area or responsibility that may include the delivery of classroom training and/or OJT/OJE. (10%) -Influences project decisions having a moderate impact on the company that may include leading employees or contractors in the commissioning of electrical systems and equipment to be placed On System. -Applies technical knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction. -Studies, evaluates and document industry and regulatory interconnection standards and guidelines. -Lead Member of a recognized industry committee OR -Performs assignments while acting independently, and may lead multi-discipline teams, may include providing direct oversight of contractors. -Leads and perform assignments related to Distributed Energy Resources (DER) requiring extensive engineering expertise. -Performs engineering tasks associated with large projects or a number of small projects. (e.g. Analyze and interpret the results of complex power flows and perform complex engineering tests, and analyze non-specific and ambiguous results) -Serves as an expert in DER topics such as flexible interconnections, dynamic hosting capacity and DERMS. -Influences project decisions having a significant impact on the company -Leads and performs engineering tasks and projects associated with a critical or analytical engineering project that require specialized knowledge in the interconnection process and general knowledge in distribution planning. -Acts as the technical lead with the developers for technical review meetings and follow up questions. -Coordinates roles and responsibilities of the interconnection process with multiple groups in the company. -Evaluates, develops and implements projects that have moderate financial and operational impact. What You Bring
-Familiarity with DER architecture, telemetry and controls -Familiar with IEEE 1547-2018, IEEE 2030.5 standards -Minimum of three related career experiences (4) (i.e., changes in technical job responsibilities, which may or may not include a change in department) OR -Familiar with ICC rules (466/467) -Detailed knowledge of Distribution Equipment -Interpersonal skills & the ability to collaborate with peers and managers -Note: Items (1) and (3) are mutually inclusive, whereby the maximum experience requirement reduction is one (1) year (e.g., in the case of an employee with both a master's degree in Engineering AND a PE license, the minimum experience requirement would be reduced by one (1) year). -Ability to apply advanced engineering principles to identify and resolve complex issues. -Distribution Capacity Planning, Relay and Protection, or SCADA experience -Strong written and oral communication skills. -Detailed knowledge of applicable standards, codes methods, and practices unique to areas of expertise. -7+ years of professional engineering experience (1) (3) (See Note 3. Thorough knowledge and experience in unique areas of engineering expertise. -Strong written and oral communication/presentation skills, report generation & technical writing skills -Professional Engineer's License (2), advanced technical degree, MBA or Project Management Certification (1) Master's degree in Engineering reduces the OJT experience requirement by 1 year. (2) License must be issued by the state in which you are practicing. (3) PE License reduces the OJT experience requirement by 1 year. (4) Career related experiences is defined as changes in technical job responsibilities and does not have to include a change in department. -Familiarity with OT network security, TLS 1.3 over DNP3 or NERC CIP, ICCP -A working knowledge of analysis software packages such as C, Python, CYMDIST, PSS\E, PSCAD, MATLAB, etc. -Graduate degree (1) or Graduate level work in Engineering, Business Administration or Project Management Certification -Consulting and needs assessment skills -Licensed Professional Engineer (2) (3) -Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems. -Ability to analyze industry wide trends and implement enhancements such as dynamic hosting capacity, flexible interconnections, and DERMS -Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer (2) (3) Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices -Time, project management and multi-tasking skills -Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all management levels. -Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory. -Familiarity with OSI Monarch EMS, ADMS or DERMS
