The Role

Overview

Procure materials & plan production to ensure continuous, cost‑effective manufacturing.

Tasks

-Procure raw materials, fabricated parts, and industrial components in alignment with production schedules. -Track and resolve discrepancies related to quantity, quality, or delivery. -Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery terms. -Participate in supplier audits and performance evaluations. -Monitor inventory levels and optimize stock to balance availability and cost control. -Support engineering changes, new product launches, and cost-reduction initiatives. -Work closely with production, engineering, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure materials meet specifications. -Develop and execute production and procurement plans based on MRP, sales forecasts, and customer demand. -Maintain accurate and timely purchase orders, ensuring on-time delivery and proper documentation. -Expedite purchase orders to address shortages or changes in production needs.

What You Bring

-3–5 years of experience in buying and planning in an industrial or heavy manufacturing environment. -Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Epicor). -Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis). -Solid negotiation and supplier relationship management skills. -Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Just-In-Time (JIT), and Continuous Improvement practices is a plus. -Knowledge of industrial materials and components (e.g., steel, castings, fasteners, bearings, motors). -Bachelor of Science degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). -APICS/ASCM certification (e.g., CPIM, CSCP) preferred.
