Tasks
-Produces and review models, designs, calculations, contract documentations, specifications, schedules, construction estimates and drawings suitable for the preparation of NZS 3910 and NZS 3916 contract documentation. With a particular focus on stormwater and revetment engineering. -Actively seeks feedback from clients and communicate this to the team to ensure successful delivery of projects and lessons learnt. -Completes tasks within allocated timeframes and budgeted hours. -Ensure projects and variations are scoped and priced in a manner that will ensure commercial success and that respond to the specific risk profile of the project. -Produces research, feasibility studies, analysis and subsequent reporting suitable for client presentation to a high-level of grammatical and technical presentation. -Ensures project related quality processes are carried out (technical reviews, verification, approval to release etc.) in a timely and cost-effectively manner. -Undertakes appropriate verification of projects and team members’ work. -Builds and maintains strong, trusted relationships with clients. -Develops and maintains an extensive network of industry contacts in India and NZ (as a minimum) and is readily able to access key people. -Hold focused meetings that achieve appropriate outcomes at key times; Deliver engaging, informative well-organized presentations; Create opportunities to share learnings, improvements, new tools, better practices etc with the wider water team. -Liaise and work closely with Sector leadership and peer groups across India and New Zealand; Act as a brand ambassador of GCC within WSP in India across geographies. -Leads the technical delivery of a variety of stormwater, revetment and drainage engineering projects and provide technical inputs to support design from concept through to consenting and construction for medium to large, complex and multi-disciplinary projects in accordance with our Integrated Management System (IMS). Work alongside project managers and junior team members to ensure efficient delivery. Delivers through teams, not individually. -Supports, coaches and mentors stormwater professionals and team members. -Considering risks to client’s business or reputation as part of the planning and management of projects. -Writes and supports bids that are commercially astute, recognises and manages commercial risks while demonstrating value to the client. -Ensures that confidentiality is respected and maintained at all times. -Prepares reports and other documents associated with stormwater, revetment and drainage engineering and associated services to a high level of grammatical and technical presentation. -Ensures all technical risks are understood, managed, assigned to the organisation best placed to manage the risk, and these are well communicated with the project team, and/or client -Provides regular feedback to team members in a constructive and timely manner. -Delivering excellent service to clients to promote repeat and uncompetitive work.

-Resilient, comfortable with change and ambiguity. -Proficient use of Windows, MS Word/Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. -Projects a credible image and inspires confidence; Excellent interpersonal skills. -Models WSP Guiding Principles. -Natural and confident leader displaying openness, accountability, decisiveness and engagement; Client centric and passionate about service excellence . -Minimum of 12 years’ experience post qualification in stormwater engineering and design, including at least 4 years' experience leading stormwater projects from concept design to construction, reviewing work of others and coaching junior staff within projects. -Solves problems effectively by engaging sound problem solving techniques and appropriate analysis. -Professional Registration (Chartered Engineer status or equivalent). -Experience using 12d for design purposes is beneficial, but not essential. -Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering (followed by a Masters in Water Resource Engineering or Environmental Engineering or similar preferred) -Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail. -Strong organisational ability to optimise and prioritise conflicting demands in a busy environment, to achieve deadlines and see responsibilities through to completion; copes well under conflicting pressures. -Must have at least 6 years’ experience using Civil 3D as a stormwater design tool (eg basins, channels, drainage etc) and must have extensive use within the last 12 months. -Has a technically strong knowledge of stormwater reticulation, drainage and revetment engineering, including strategy, investigation, and related advisory work in the field of stormwater, revetment and drainage engineering and is able to successfully supervise others in these fields. -Able to work effectively and competently with people at all levels; within and external to the organisation. Ability to work collaboratively and demonstrated capability to perform effectively as part of a team across a matrix type structure. -Experienced and competent in earthworks modelling using Civil 3D. -Commercial and a level of maturity needed to understand business needs and drivers. -Fluent in spoken and written English and able to present ideas, complex technical information and advice in a way that is understandable to a wide range of audiences; Communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully. -Must be highly proficient in Civil 3D as a stormwater design tool (basins, channels, drainage etc), including earthworks modelling. -Maintains knowledge of appropriate technical standards, legislation, codes of practice and New Zealand standards; Is knowledgeable on industry developments, trends, and processes. -Displays drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done with high levels of motivation and energy; Project credibility demonstrate professionalism and inspire confidence with high emotional intelligence and self-awareness of strengths and potential areas for development. -Past experience in NZ, Australian or UK projects is preferred but not essential. -Applies sound judgement to decisions about technical issues and solves problems for clients to get the best possible outcome for a project. -Employment with WSP India is subject to the successful completion of a background verification (“BGV”) check conducted by a third-party agency appointed by WSP India. -Able to work without supervision, direct others and ensures their work is verified by an appropriate professional. -Able to manage others and support them through stressful or challenging situations.
