Overview

Ensures ESH regulatory compliance and leads safety programs for a federal contract.

Tasks

-Redesigning controls to eliminate occupational hazards. -Developing standards which set tolerances, stress ratios, strength of materials and other related engineering requirements. -Reviewing proposed occupational safety policies, guidelines and standards to determine their consistency with accepted engineering principles and practices, recommending technical changes as needed. -Meets with department managers to determine whether the area is in compliance. -Conduct regularly scheduled safety training awareness sessions pertinent to the tasks being performed. -Designing protective equipment and/or safety devices. -Enforce OSHA and company safety policies and standards. -Conduct safety inspections of work areas, observe work in progress for safety compliance, and ensure proper use of PPE. -Develops lessons plans, scenarios and exercises to train managers, supervisors and employees in ESH principles. -Advising on safety requirements. -Assists in the hiring of supervisors and employees to include job fairs, interviewing candidates and supporting the Akima hiring process. -Maintains sensitivity to, and report on, instances of fraud, waste, and abuse. -Promotes a safety culture built on listening to our employees and having transparent communications with our customer.

What You Bring

-Must have active Top Secret with SCI and ability to obtain full scope poly. -Five (5) years of relevant experience in environmental and safety and health management on a US federal government service contract. -Must be able to make presentations to employees at all levels. Must be able to write cohesive and comprehensive documentation. -Exemplary attention to detail. -Strong personal leadership, management, and organization skills as well as the ability to integrate and harmonize diversified functions to provide overall efficient and effective contract operations. -Proficient at the suite of MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint). -Five (5) years working Intelligence Community of Department of Energy experience working supporting facilities operations and maintenance. -Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
