The Role

Overview

Design and deliver OHS training programs and manage LMS for City of Calgary.

Tasks

-Work with various areas across City business units to strategically assess safety training, learning, and development needs and develop course outlines and learning objectives for OHS and the Corporation. -Conduct needs assessments and skills gap analyses to identify training priorities and opportunities. -Using a variety of software as well as best practices in instructional methodology and adult learning, develop interactive safety training content and videos. -Coordinate curriculum facilitation and delivery with external service providers. -Research and extract technical information to develop safety training content. Assess available training and obtain feedback from learners and subject matter experts to validate content and identify and propose solutions for training gaps. -Create and maintain accuracy of instructional materials, including eLearning courses, videos, reference materials, instructor guides, knowledge checks, and student manuals. Ensure materials are aligned to OHS legislation, industry standards, corporate policy, and internal/external auditing expectations. -Develop and maintain a library of safety training courses and compliance trackers in the Learning Management System (LMS). Centralize safety trainings that impact business units across The City. -Mentor training instructors on course delivery and design, facilitation techniques and evaluation tools. -Support and provide oversight of training administration, including training registration, completion and records.

What You Bring

-Proficiency in Learning Management Systems, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Content Server will be considered an asset. -A degree in Commerce, Education, Adult Education, or a related Training field with at least 5 years of experience in learning and curriculum development and/or instructional design. -Experience must include curriculum design, learning theory, research, extraction of technical content, and technical writing. -Success in this position requires consulting, research and problem-solving skills, and effective communication skills with a focus on relationship building to help coach and develop employees. -Strong communication skills are needed for conflict resolution and to create an environment conducive to learning. -Knowledge of SumTotal, Learning Management System (LMS) administration, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Articulate Storyline will be considered an asset. -Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
