The Role

Overview

Design and oversee new and rehabilitated bridges, perform analysis and mentor staff.

Tasks

-Review shop drawings produced by fabricators and detailers, calculations performed by other engineers, coordinate with design team, site visits to address site issues and verify existing conditions, and respond to request for information -Coordinate with clients as required to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget -Oversee design and preparation of contract documents for new bridges and rehabilitation of existing bridges -Perform load rating analysis of existing bridges -Perform design calculations, drawings, and details for various bridge design projects -Mentor and monitor junior structural engineers -Assist with the management and administration of projects, including budget tracking, developing staffing requirements, coordinating quality reviews, and assuring compliance with Health, Safety, Security and Environment fundamentals

-Leadership and team building skills, which are essential to meet the expectations of this challenging position -Ability to join Stantec committees, employee resource groups, participate in community volunteering, and join various company or local groups/initiatives. -Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field. -Strong oral and written communication skills -Ability to work alongside others who share your passion to improve communities through exciting and unique projects. -Professional Engineering license or the ability to get on in NY -Ability to develop drawings using AutoCAD, Microstation and Open Bridge Modeler -Proficiency in STAAD, CSI, SAP, AASHTOWare BrR and other structural analysis and design software -Understanding design codes and agency standards such as AASHTO, ASCE, AISC and ACI. -Minimum 5 years of experience in the structural design and analysis of bridges and other transportation structures. -Licensed Professional Engineer with license in the State of NY
