The Role

Overview

Ensure OSHA compliance, train staff, conduct inspections, manage incidents.

Tasks

-Influence the workforce towards achieving an injury free culture of care. -Conduct both scheduled and random jobsite observation visits and documents findings appropriately. Ensure corrective actions are taken for any deficiencies found. -Administer Random/Post Accident/Reasonable Cause drug tests. -Conduct employee training sessions to educate employees on safety standards and expectations, as well as safe machinery operation. -Occasional overnight travel for learning seminars or visits to company operations in North Carolina. -Enforce existing policies and procedures. -Interact with employees, management, customers, doctors' offices, officials, etc. to ensure accurate and timely claims management and mitigation. -Perform accident investigations and identify the root causes.

What You Bring

-Must be at least 21 years of age unless company approval is granted. -Must not have had a DUI, DWI, or reckless driving conviction in the last five years. -All driving records are run as part of our pre-employment process and reviewed at the discretion of the Safety Team. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and meeting facilitation abilities. -Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. -Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and project managers. -Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines. -High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred. -OSHA 510 certification is required. -Bilingual - ability to read, comprehend, and communicate in English and Spanish is preferred. -Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress. -Ability to navigate safety tracking software and generate reports. -Must be available for on call rotation as situations arise. -3+ years of experience in the Safety field. Experience in the construction industry is strongly recommended. -Must have a valid Virginia driver's license. -Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, unassisted. -Must have positive points on state driving record. -Must be able to crawl, kneel, squat, and climb.
