The Role

Overview

Deliver end-to-end internal audits, provide assurance and advise senior leadership.

Tasks

-Monitor the implementation of agreed management actions and follow up to ensure improvements are embedded. -Deliver independent, end-to-end internal audits in line with the approved audit plan, from scoping through to reporting and action tracking. -Critically evaluate business processes, systems, and strategies, and recommend improvements that are relevant, reliable, and cost-effective. -Contribute to shaping a stronger risk and control culture across the business through constructive engagement and clear communication. -Provide high-quality, timely assurance to the Executive, Trust, Board, and Risk & Audit Committee on the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal controls. -Produce clear, insightful audit reports that highlight risks, control gaps, and practical recommendations. -Uphold internal audit standards, ethical guidelines, and independence at all times. -Build strong working relationships with managers and Heads of Departments, acting as a trusted advisor while maintaining professional independence.

What You Bring

-Comprehensive knowledge of governance, risk management, and the role of internal audit. -Familiarity with Agresso and D365 ERP systems. -Experience of providing assurance over organisational change programmes. -Substantial experience in external or internal audit, with responsibility for the full audit cycle (scoping, delivery, reporting, and action tracking). -Knowledge of the UK construction sector. -Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence effectively while maintaining independence. -A relevant professional qualification such as CIA, ACCA, CIMA (or equivalent). -The ability to critically appraise business processes, systems, and strategies, and to make practical, value-adding recommendations. -Proven experience of managing audit assignments independently from start to finish.
