Manage payroll and accounts payable for multi‑location construction projects.

Tasks

-Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. -Reviews payroll documentation for accuracy through audit reports and makes adjustments with required approvals -Analysis of payroll inputs and outputs to validate hires, associate changes and associate terminations to identify errors and corrective actions to ensure payroll accuracy -Respond to employee inquiries and requests regarding payroll matters -Provide input for the development of policies and procedures for locations in multiple provinces -Reviews computed wages and corrects errors to ensure the accuracy of earnings -Process weekly payrolls for staff and craft employees in compliance with company policies and union agreements -Maintain vendor records and ensure timely payments -Process all employee information including salary changes, special payments, taxable benefits, & bonus payments -Reviews employee timecards to be inputted into the current payroll system via completed and approved spreadsheets -Ensure provincial and federal taxes are appropriately withheld for employees (new hires or job changes) -Will handle all garnishments, deductions, and vacation/sick accruals -Review, verify, and process invoices and expense reports in a timely manner -Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required. -Maintains client confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential -Works closely with Human Resources and Accounting on all payroll related issues -Reconcile accounts payable transactions and assist with month-end closing

What You Bring

-Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment -Advanced computer skills; proficient MS Office including Excel -Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with employees at various levels of the organization -Ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information -Detail oriented and ability to work to tight timelines -Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task -Work productively and meet deadlines timely -Minimum 3 years’ experience in a multi-location environment -Remit WSIB for each province including follow up and correspondence with each provincial agency -Accounting knowledge sufficient to perform journal entries and payroll account reconciliations -Regular, reliable attendance -Ability to work independently, self-starter, energetic -College or University Degree in related Business Administration, Finance or related field. Will substitute years of experience for a degree.
