Tasks
We address over 39,000 customer enquiries every month, plan and deliver all maintenance activities on the network, drive efficiencies and improvements across our systems and roads, and respond to incidents across 4,500 miles of motorways and major A-roads that we manage. All to make sure National Highways customers have safer, smoother, and more reliable journeys. Operations is at the heart of keeping the strategic road network moving and ensuring our customers get the best possible experience when using our roads. -Managing and developing a team of environmental specialists, supporting their growth and performance. -Maintaining accurate environmental asset data and systems and driving development and implementation of best practice processes. -Ensuring environmental considerations are embedded in forward programmes and maintenance plans. -Setting direction for inspections and maintenance regimes to ensure compliance with standards. -Acting as the regional focal point for environmental requirements, impacts, and needs.

What You Bring
The role can be based at any of our South East offices (Maidstone, Basingstoke or Guildford) on a hybrid basis. You will be required to drive as part of your role and you will need to have a full driving licence, with no more than 3 points, to be considered for this position. -Proven track record of developing environmental asset management plans and asset management decision making. -Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to a variety of audiences. -Strong understanding of environmental standards, policies, and CDM 2015 regulations. -Proven experience in leading teams in a complex service delivery environment. -A degree in an environmental discipline (or equivalent) or substantial relevant experience in the field, along with full membership of a recognized environmental professional institute (e.g., CIEEM).
