The Role

Overview

Operate and maintain municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment systems.

Tasks

-Perform routine maintenance tasks as required. -Complete/submit regulatory reports and compliance sampling results. -Inspect mechanical and control components for proper operation. -Respond to emergencies or alarms at treatment systems. -Assist others in completing minor repairs and/or installing new equipment. -Execute routine operations activities for treatment systems to ensure proper treatment and compliance with the permit requirements. -Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects. -Visit treatment systems on a regularly scheduled frequency (daily, weekly, bi-weekly, etc.) as required. Weekend or holiday visits by the on-call team member are required for some treatment systems. -Collect compliance samples and deliver to the laboratory as required. -Utilize instrumentation and field kits to monitor typical operations parameters (pH, dissolved oxygen, etc.). -Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management. -Make process adjustments as required for permit compliance. -Oversee and review work tasks being completed by field technicians. -Coordinate with client personnel regarding the treatment system operations and maintenance. -Technical - performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed; using instrumentation and field kits; monitoring meters, controls or other indicators to make sure the treatment systems are working properly; controlling operations of equipment or systems; performing repairs and installing new equipment; reviewing and understanding sampling results; and completing regulatory reports. -Coordinate with team members regarding scheduling of operation and maintenance tasks. -Computer - using computers and their applications to enter, manipulate, edit and manage information and online regulatory reporting systems.

What You Bring

-Certified Operator serving small to medium systems (under 1 MGD) -Minimum 4 years’ related experience. -Mechanically Inclined - experience with completing routine maintenance tasks and performing repairs on mechanical, electrical, and piping systems. -Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history. -High school diploma or equivalent. -Basic - the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with others; reading comprehension; giving full attention to what others are saying and taking the time to understand the points being made; using learned methods and procedures appropriate for the situation.
