Electrical Engineer - Protection and Control

Design and optimize electrical protection and control systems for power projects.

Tasks

-Help commission and test protection systems on site -Develop and optimize protection strategies for high-, medium- and low-voltage electrical systems -Design and review protection and control schematics to ensure the safety and reliability of electrical installations -Prepare detailed technical reports and recommendations for improving existing systems -Carry out arc-flash studies and propose solutions to minimize risks to operators and equipment -Develop and maintain technical documentation and training materials on best practices in electrical protection and safety -Perform protection settings calculations -Provide technical expertise and serve as an advisor to clients on complex projects -Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and coordinate activities with other departments -Provide mentoring and technical coaching to junior and intermediate engineers -Ensure compliance with local and international regulations and standards (CSA, IEEE, IEC, etc.)

What You Bring

-Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec -In-depth knowledge of protective relays and related protective equipment -Caring mindset that puts people first -University degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent) from a recognized university -Asset: knowledge of communication protocols (IEC 61850, DNP3, etc.) -Sense of equity and inclusion -Ability to look beyond established standards -Advanced level of French and English to collaborate effectively with BBA offices and/or clients outside Québec. The frequency of English use may range from occasional to daily, depending on ongoing projects -Excellent written and spoken communication skills -Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within deadlines -Asset: experience in the industrial or mining sector -At least seven years of relevant experience in electrical system protection and control -Proficiency in simulation and analysis software (ETAP, EasyPower, etc.)
