The Role
Overview
Lead road design projects, manage teams, client relations, and ensure timely delivery.

Tasks
-Undertake technical preparation, review and checking of deliverables. -Lead and manage other staff members in the delivery of design drawings, standard construction details, specifications and bill of quantities, supporting the preparation of tender packages. -Be actively involved with team resource coordination, supporting the setup of teams and putting the right people in the right roles. -Oversee multi-disciplinary projects of varying scale, complexity and value, managing budget and financial performance. -Support the North East and Scotland Regional Director with leadership and business development. -Work collaboratively with the Roads team and our colleagues in the wider Transport and Infrastructure business to achieve our aims and objectives. -Working directly with our clients, developing strong trusted relationships, proactively managing their expectations and comprehensively advising them. -Responsible for compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation and inhouse quality assurance standards/processes. -Proactively manages change on tasks/projects, clearly communicating potential impacts on programme, cost, and quality. -Using your technical ability and experience to support others to maximise their personal contribution to project/team goals.

What You Bring
-Chartered Civil Engineer or an Incorporated Engineer with extensive post professional qualification experience -Proven ability to lead a single or multiple design disciplines in relevant projects (i.e. road, public transport, active travel, public real and/or private development). -Demonstrate ability to improve, motivate and encourage others, lead and implement change programmes, inspiring colleagues and drive an innovative and supportive culture. Act as a catalyst for change. -Experience of contract document preparation or contract administration/site supervision using Public Works Contracts -Experience of complying with Designers Duties under CDM regulations. -A thorough understanding and application of the relevant design codes such as the Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Manual for Streets, TSRGD, Local Authority design guidance and are well versed in the preparation of drawings for contract documentation and technical approvals including the application of departures from standard. -The ability to use, direct and check the design outputs created in relevant softwares including but not limited to Autodesk Civils 3D, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, InfoDrainage and/or PDS. -Influential and persuasive internally and externally, encourages open dialogue and feedback. -Preferably able to obtain UK vetting level of Security Check (SC) -A broad range of project experience, both within civil engineering discipline and multi-disciplinary projects, focusing on highways. -Commercial and strategic capability with a demonstrable track record in having identified and subsequently delivered new business opportunities. -Expert client/stakeholder management and interpersonal skills are essential.
