Tasks

The Safety Specialist III is a senior-level safety professional responsible for supporting, developing, and implementing comprehensive safety and health programs across multiple projects, facilities, or regions. This role provides subject matter expertise in occupational health and safety regulations, company safety policies, and industry best practices to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with federal, state, and local safety standards. Working with minimal supervision, the Safety Specialist III leads safety audits, conducts risk assessments, investigates incidents, and partners with operational teams to drive continuous improvement in safety culture and performance. This position serves as a mentor and technical resource to junior safety staff and project leadership and plays a critical role in fostering proactive safety behavior and promoting accountability at all levels of the organization. -Communicate and make appropriate recommendations to line management for process improvements or corrective actions -Proactively assess the “safety climate’ via observations, audit trend analysis, investigation of key learnings, etc. -Acts as a “safety” motivator for management and employees alike, ensuring safety remains an active part of the work and the culture at Henkels & McCoy West, LLC -Provides specific safety training, education, and related programs for operations management to use and implement while completing work -Travel (100%) to multiple projects throughout California, as assigned to provide support to Operations -Implement the Safety Systems for new project start-ups -Provides “safety” subject matter expertise, ensuring the most relevant and effective safety practices are used and implemented while delivering work at Henkels & McCoy West, LLC -To provide operations management with effective safety coaching, counseling, and advice, ensuring Henkels & McCoy West, LLC operations management delivers a safe and efficient work environment for all employees, customers, and the public

What You Bring

-Ability to work effectively, professionally, and respectfully in a team-based environment as a team leader and team member and to promote respectful interaction with others with whom the position interacts -Knowledge of applicable ANSI, EPA, DOT, and OSHA Standards (29 CFR 1910.268) and other applicable standards -Bachelor’s Degree in an Occupational Safety and Health discipline (e.g., OS&H Management, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, Human Factors, or another applicable technical field – chemistry, biology, engineering, physiology) or equivalent and relevant professional safety experience -Ability to lead task teams and interact effectively with diverse people from various functions, levels, and backgrounds -Ability to lead organizational changes to continuously improve OS&H work processes, systems, and programs and to attain organizational goals and objectives for OS&H performance and compliance -Effective oral presentation, report writing, and other written communication skills -An active CUSP with ET&D endorsement is preferred -5 Years’ experience in Safety and Occupational Health disciplines – professional certifications will be considered of substituting for experience requirements (Power Distribution / Transmission; Construction Industry preferred
