Tasks
The Sustainability Manager will report operationally to the Development Directors and functionally to the ESG Lead of the organization. This position will require close collaboration with sustainability consultants, contractors, and the client’s internal project and ESG teams to ensure that sustainability performance targets are effectively achieved, monitored, and continuously improved. The Sustainability Manager (Construction Phase) will be responsible for managing and driving the sustainability agenda during the construction stage of all Arada’s projects. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with the project’s sustainability objectives, including LEED and WELL certifications, while embedding sustainability best practices across construction activities. -Oversee the work of Sustainability Consultants and Contractors, ensuring deliverables are completed on schedule and in compliance with LEED, WELL, and project sustainability standards. -Support the development and implementation of a Sustainability Implementation Strategy tailored for construction projects. -Identify risks and gaps related to sustainability implementation and develop proactive mitigation strategies. -Continuously explore emerging sustainability and green construction trends in the market and propose feasible initiatives for integration into current and future projects. -Provide verified data, documentation, and progress updates to support corporate ESG disclosures and performance reporting. -Conduct training sessions and workshops for the client’s development and project management teams to strengthen sustainability awareness and build internal capacity. -Maintain a Sustainability Risk Register and track the closure of identified issues. -Lead and oversee all sustainability activities during the construction phase of the project. -Work closely with the organization’s ESG Lead to ensure construction activities align with overall corporate ESG strategies and reporting requirements. -Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to incorporate sustainability criteria into material selection, vendor engagement, and procurement processes. -Implement ESG-linked initiatives at the project level—such as carbon accounting, energy performance tracking, waste diversion, and social sustainability metrics. -Lead, manage, and monitor all sustainability-related activities during the construction phase of the project. -Ensure that all sustainability requirements are fully integrated into construction operations, site management practices, and contractor deliverables. -Support decision-making by developing evidence-based justifications for sustainability measures, backed by financial and operational implications. -Review drawings, specifications, and submittals from consultants and contractors from a project sustainability perspective, providing necessary feedback and approvals. -Conduct site sustainability audits, inspections, and compliance reviews jointly with the Project HSE team to verify conformance with the project’s sustainability commitments. -Liaise closely with the rest of the development team to devise and execute sustainability implementation strategies spanning design, procurement, and construction execution. -Provide regular sustainability performance reports to Project Directors, highlighting progress, certification status, and performance against sustainability KPIs. -Coordinate closely with the Design Team and their Sustainability Representatives to ensure that all construction-related sustainability aspects are properly captured, implemented, and tracked. -Establish and maintain a Sustainability Management System (SMS) with consistent procedures, templates, and reporting formats across projects. -Conduct cost–benefit and feasibility analyses for proposed sustainability initiatives, enabling Project Directors to make informed investment decisions.

3. ESG Alignment & Strategic Integration 2. Reporting, Risk Management & Decision Support -Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or related engineering disciplines. -Innovative mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing sustainability improvement opportunities. -WELL Accredited Professional (WELL AP) certification is mandatory. -Successfully completed at least 5 LEED-certified projects as a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) from design through construction. -Strong understanding of sustainability certifications (LEED, WELL, and other green building frameworks). -Proven track record of managing multiple sustainability projects simultaneously. -Strong commercial awareness and ability to evaluate financial implications of sustainability decisions. -Experience in large-scale or mixed-use developments, infrastructure, or high-rise projects. -Excellent coordination, stakeholder management, and communication skills. -Practical knowledge of sustainable procurement, low-carbon construction materials, waste management, and circular economy practices. -Minimum 8 years of professional experience in sustainability management, preferably within a consultancy or client-side Sustainability project management background. -Demonstrated experience in sustainability auditing, documentation, reporting, and risk management. -Proven ability to perform cost feasibility analyses and articulate business cases for sustainability measures.
