The Role

Overview

Builds and sets concrete forms on road construction sites.

Tasks

-Install pre-cast concrete elements; prepare for slip forming traffic rails and median barriers. -Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete and move chute to direct concrete on forms. -Occasionally, ascend/ descends a ladder to function/ process daily tasks. -Cut, shape, and fit materials to form walls, columns, and other structures. Assemble and fasten materials to make framework or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue. -Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials. -Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles and/or equipment and -Use levels and transit levels to ensure that forms are level and straight. -Review forms by tying rebar, pouring concrete, finishing concrete, using sting line for line and level. -Construct and create forms to lay out and mark concrete according to blueprints and specifications. -Clean and maintain forms and tools, and apply release agents to prevent concrete from sticking to forms. -Communicate with other construction team members to ensure that concrete form work aligns with project schedules and timelines. -Install permanent metal deck forms. -Follow safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries on the job site. -Observe all company, road and customer policies and safety requirements. -Chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete, using pneumatic chisels, power grinders, or hand tools. Clean chipped area, using wire brush, and feel and observe surface to determine if it is rough or uneven. Mix cement, concrete, mortar and various patching compounds. Install all types of joints, i.e. expansion, construction & contraction. Set the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth and align them. -Remove forms and clean and prepare concrete surfaces for finishing. -Operate power vibrator to consolidate concrete -Insert steel reinforcement and embedded items, such as anchor bolts and conduits, prior to pouring concrete. -Install and secure forms for pouring concrete using hand tools and power tools. Observe concrete pours and review forms.

What You Bring

-Able to successfully complete all required pre‐hire tests and verifications, which may include pre‐employment drug testing, reference & criminal background checks and MVR review. -Constantly works in the field, environment in high movement. -Will be required to use fall protection and work in heights. -Basic knowledge of tools and safety equipment. -Must be able to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends ,as required by operation. -Ability to lift heavy objects (in excess of 50 pounds) and perform repetitive tasks involving arms, hands, and fingers -Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain). -Must be ablet to lift 50lb. -Must have the ability to read, write and understand safety regulations applicable to our industry codes and standards. -Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, measure and cut lumber for forms, and operate hand tools and power tools safely. -Must have a Valid Texas Driver License. -Constantly operates vehicle. -Some knowledge of road construction concrete finishing and concrete labor. -Must be willing to travel to different job sites/ locations and work long hours in various weather conditions. -Ability to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots) at all times. -Exerting up to 50-100 lbs. occasionally, 25-50 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly OR requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
