Credit Controller

Overview

Manage and reduce rental arrears, liaise with tenants and benefits, maintain cash flow.

Tasks

-Contact tenants in arrears via phone, email, and written correspondence to agree realistic repayment plans. -Liaise with tenants, housing benefit departments, and Universal Credit teams to arrange or maintain direct rent payments. -Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company policies throughout all credit control activities. -Monitor and report on arrears performance, highlighting persistent or complex cases to management. -Focus will primarily be on historic rental arrears (no more than 3–4 years old) and ensuring appropriate direct payment setups from Universal Credit (UC) where applicable. -Proactively manage and reduce rental arrears across the property portfolio. -Keep accurate and up-to-date records of arrears cases, communications, and payment arrangements. -Work collaboratively with property managers to ensure tenants receive appropriate support and communication.

(Essential) -Strong understanding of rental arrears management, payment plans, and UC direct payment processes ( Desirable) -Excellent communication and negotiation skills with a professional and empathetic approach. -Confident using property management or accounting software systems (training provided).
