Senior Database Engineer (SQL)

Design, build and maintain high‑performance data solutions on terabytes of data.

Tasks

-Drive the design of highly performant and highly available data solutions -Tune database performance using tools like SQL Profiler, Execution Plans -Define database architecture and development best practices -Build solutions that operate on massive amounts of data in high-transaction-volume applications -Create and maintain Power BI dashboards -Evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities, trends, and best practices that can be leveraged to strengthen CoStar’s technology platform and development practices. -Work with QA resources to ensure that the software delivered is of the highest quality -Maintain documentation for database structures, processes, and best practices -Act as a key member of the product launch team and work closely with DevOps to resolve operational issues

What You Bring

-Experience with version control systems (e.g., TFS) -4+ years of SQL database development experience -Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., ElasticSearch) -Strong communication skills (with the business and technical partners) -A track record of commitment to prior employers -Comfortable facilitating discussions among database developers to exchange ideas and introduce new database technologies -Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Power BI) -Demonstrable track record of building and launching successful products that leverage terabytes of data -Database design, T-SQL programming, performance tuning, index analysis -Experienced in database performance testing and SQL code unit testing strategies and implementations -Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited, not for profit university or college -Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS) -Scripting knowledge (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation -Strong ability to analyze complex data sets and optimize queries
