The Role
Overview
Oversee safety, compliance, and training for a large underground tunnel construction project.

Tasks
-Purchase and distribute Safety equipment (PPE). -Provide safety orientations -Completes incident reports and distributes and maintains files. -Manage and prevent hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through safety management and contact with field supervisory personnel. -Maintains a SAFE jobsite, monitors safety and takes appropriate action to correct any safety issues or deficiencies. -Review daily, weekly, and monthly field documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established project procedures. -Prepares accident reports for any incidents that occur. -Monitors all accidents and maintains appropriate paperwork and files pertaining to same. Gathers Monthly Safety Hours from subcontractors for the monthly Report. -Review accident procedure. -Maintains and conducts Safety audits. -Accompany all safety, health, and insurance inspectors on walk through tours. -Assists Project Manager and/or Superintendents with the development and monitoring of the job specific safety plans, JHAs. -From daily site activities, will generate a daily report. -Gathers toolbox reports from foreman and subcontractors. -Maintain MSDS and Hazardous Communication Program. -Provide daily stretch & Flex along with toolbox talks. -Supervisory responsibilities include but are not limited to training and mentoring employees; planning, assigning, delegating and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and resolving employee issues. -Document all accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions/activities. Conduct investigations with employees, subcontractor personnel and CCIP carrier for each accident occurrence or violation. -Monitors activities at multiple construction sites. Inspects construction sites daily. -Supervise and conduct safety and first aid training of staff at the project sites. -Oversee and interact with management and crews during daily work activities. -Ensures compliance with all JHAs and EHASP.

What You Bring
-10 or more years of heavy civil construction. -RCRA Training -Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future*** -5 or more years’ experience as a manager or supervisor of safety teams -Other BEDC Training -Proficient in Microsoft 365 software. -Experience in underground construction, TBM experience highly preferred. -OSHA 30 credential is required to be considered for this role. -30 Hour OSHA -LOTO Training -Familiarity and experience with NYCDEP safety and health regulations. -Bachelor's degree in a Health & Safety related program from an accredited institution -Current certification in first aid and CPR by the American Red Cross or its equivalent. -Confined Space Training -NO STAFFING AGENCY CANDIDATES WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION***
