The Role

Overview

Entry-level survey technician conducting land surveys and supporting field operations.

Tasks

-Perform basic calculations from field note data, and read, interpret and use topographic maps and design drawings -Use standard tapes and electronic field equipment in a fashion consistent with accepted rules -Maintain favorable public relations. -Apply knowledge of land surveying to land surveying activities and techniques. -Assist in Perform standard calculations to determine elevation, areas and volumes from survey notes -Maintain records, and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work. -Assist in field layout and measurement -Assist in preparation of base maps -Carry out written and oral directions. -Make arithmetic computations accurately and record results legibly.

What You Bring

-Have a valid driver’s license and ability to pass a driving record check. -Associate degree in a closely related field or combination of education and relevant experience -Be knowledgeable of or ability to learn mathematics, survey computer programs, and survey computations applicable to the work. -Be knowledgeable of or ability to learn surveying instruments and equipment and their use and care. -Be knowledgeable of or ability to learn the principles and practices of land surveying. -Be willing and able to travel for out of town work. -Demonstrate understanding of basic survey or CAD computer applications -Experience with AutoCAD -Communicate effectively with others.
