The Role

Overview

Lead and manage large, complex electrical construction projects, overseeing schedule, budget, and team.

Tasks

-Coordinating and assisting with or leading a project kick-off meeting. -Observing and measuring project scope and performance against the project plan to ensure that the project is within acceptable variances of cost, budget, schedule and scope. -Managing the integration of data from multiple company systems and analyzing the data to draw insights on project progress. -Developing a Work Breakdown Structure for the project with properly named work packages and resources assigned to tasks (resource loaded) to establish a baseline resource plan. -Maintaining a positive, assertive relationship with other project leadership, including supervisors, superintendents, foremen, crew leaders and/or other project personnel, to achieve project milestones and overall project success. -Leading the acquisition of required permits and licenses for projects and ensuring inspections are handled correctly and in a timely manner. -Assuring timely completion of project punch-list items, the submittal of accurate as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and the completion of training materials. -Identifying opportunities for cost-saving measures, quality improvements and best practices. -Performing the overall administration, organization, and implementation of large scale electrical construction projects. -Assisting with the collection of progress data of both self-perform and contractor perform work. -Supervise Construction Project Managers and perform PM duties on construction projects. -Maintain operational and administrative control for construction projects Extensive Project Management experience managing teams and monitoring multiple projects at any given time. -Reviewing the project schedule with the General Contractor and/or Customer. -Managing several phases of a project lifecycle, including proposal, design, solutioning, installation, and close. -Providing and executing site surveys, site cost studies, projected costs, forecasts, cost codes and progress reports, as required.\ -Coordinating the acquisition of major materials, and monitoring tool and equipment requirements with project leadership and the warehouse, as required. -Assisting in the preparation of project documentation, including project requirements, manpower requirements, project layout, project schedules, detailed equipment plans and field office support. -Working directly with the Customer on a schedule. -Driving the development and maintenance of project artifacts, including shop drawings that are required to ensure effective short-term and long-term staffing success for the project. -Identify and understand the speech of another person. -Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. -Creating baseline vs actual reporting of resources, as required. -Can direct cross function teams to reach mutual agreement to meet business objectives. -Assisting with the scheduling of resources on the project to maintain the baseline project schedule. -Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction. -Estimating, scheduling, or conferring with estimators, schedulers, and other resources that are assigned to the project to identify matters, such as work procedures, complaints, and other related problems.

-Able to work in a diverse environment, with personnel having a range of backgrounds. -Can facilitate change and communicate effectively. -Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. -Strong analytical thinking to evaluate options and directions. -BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, or Physics with 7+ years experience or 5+ years with a MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, or Physics -Strong leadership and coaching skills. -Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time. -Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard. -Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand. -Proven track record of successful projects. Has Managed diverse groups on projects that involve multi-discipline knowledge for example; Fire Alarm, Communications, Security, AV, Power, and Instrumentation. -Experienced in up-front project involvement with engineering firms, the client, and General Contractors. -Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing. -Able to think abstractly, in both short and long term planning. -Strong verbal and written communication skills.
