Tasks

-Serve as technical advisor by providing senior level input and evaluation on projects. -Assist with the marketing of the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients. -Supervise the work of Project Managers when needed. -Collect outstanding monies due from assigned clients. -Coordinate with other internal departments to meet project requirements. -Participate in and formulate marketing presentations and attend marketing meetings. -Maintain close liaison with clients to resolve all project questions, such as, but not limited to, technical requirements, completion requirements and billing inquiries. -Meet with prospective clients, prepare proposals, and establish budgets and schedules. -Secure repeat business from existing clients and identifying new clients. -Receive broad guidance from senior-level management relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and general parameters for execution. Manage people and processes to ensure effective execution. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance. -Review job cost sheets/prepare monthly billings. Ensure assigned projects stay within budget allocation. -Provide oversight and direction of department or business unit including strategy, budgeting, staff, and deliverables. -Define the scope of multiple, complex projects and develop plan to accomplish land survey projects. Monitor progress toward deliverable schedules. -Compile project status reports. -Supervise work of all survey project personnel to ensure it meets the highest professional standards. -Oversee all surveying activities, including review of all project changes, pending or anticipated alterations to the contract, additional work requests, and all other factors, which may significantly affect staffing requirements or budget.

What You Bring

-Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business. -Self-reliance and ability to operate independently with limited direction. -Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). -Strong sense of urgency in responding to constituents. -Ten or more (10+) years of land surveying or related land development experience to include a minimum of two (2) years project management experience. -Strong Survey Business Acumen - Prepare Proposals, RFP responses, Desire to pursue Business Development - Survey Accounting - Includes billing, project reports and collections. -Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying or related field preferred. -Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. -Frequent and prolonged use of data collection equipment and/or drones, necessitating walking the assigned study area to complete data collection over the course of several hours. -Highly motivated and problem-solving attitude. -Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds. -Must be licensed surveyor in relevant state. -Professional Land Surveying registration. -Strong marketing/business development skills and mindset. -Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder. -Effective verbal and written communication skills. -Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Carlson principles. -Basic understanding of financial reports and metrics. -Strong work ethic and commitment to quality. -Strong Local Jurisdictional Knowledge for Plat preparation and approval. -Experience managing a Survey Department is preferred. -Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.
