The Role

Overview

Plan, implement and execute testing for LV switchgear and control panels

Tasks

-Perform routine and non-routine inspections, reviews, and verifications on products and installations as required. -Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, testing methodologies, and regulatory requirements for engineering projects. -Document all test results, non-conformances, and relevant observations, ensuring all information is presented accurately and in a timely manner. -Liaise with design, production, and project delivery teams to ensure tests are conducted efficiently and in line with project timelines. -Adhere to all relevant health, safety, and environmental procedures within the test environment. -Troubleshoot, diagnose, and document test failures, collaborating with engineering teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. -Support client Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), providing technical insights and guidance throughout the process. -Develop, maintain, and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts aligned with project requirements. -Conduct functional, system, and integration testing for LV switchgear and control panels, ensuring they meet specifications and quality standards.

What You Bring

-Proficient IT skills, including experience using common office and testing software tools. -Confident communicator with good verbal and written skills, able to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and clients. -Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications. -Demonstrable experience in a testing or commissioning role, preferably within the LV switchgear, electrical engineering, control systems, or related sectors. -Self-motivated team player who can also work independently with a proactive attitude towards work and safety. -Recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline (e.g., City & Guilds, HNC, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent) preferred. -Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and quality. -Additional industry training or certification in testing, safety, or quality assurance is advantageous. -Solid understanding of electrical systems, schematics, and applicable regulations (e.g., BS EN 61439, BS7671). -Excellent attention to detail and a methodical, accurate approach to test execution and documentation. -Full UK driving licence. -Flexible and adaptable, able to manage changing priorities and work to tight deadlines where required. -Experience in a comparable test or commissioning engineer role within engineering/manufacturing is highly desirable.
