Tasks

The position partners with plant leadership to reduce risks, improve performance, and engage employees in sustainable safety practices. The Associate Director of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) leads safety and compliance programs across manufacturing operations. This role drives continuous improvement, ensures regulatory compliance with OSHA, ISO 45001, EPA, and other standards, and strengthens a proactive safety culture. -Lead EHS excellence across advanced manufacturing operations. -Verify compliance with company and regulatory standards. -Coordinate with local agencies for preparedness and crisis response. -Integrate EHS principles into operational planning and decision-making. -Maintain and communicate safety policies that meet OSHA, EPA, DOT, and ISO 45001 requirements. -Promote ongoing education in EHS principles and best practices. -Influence companywide safety strategy and culture. -Oversee development and testing of emergency response programs across facilities. -Track EHS KPIs and report performance trends to senior leadership. -Lead investigations of serious incidents and near misses. -Walk, stand, and climb during site inspections. -Prepare facilities for external audits and regulatory reviews. -Oversee root cause analysis and ensure preventive actions are completed. -Conduct site audits and inspections, ensuring timely corrective action and compliance. -Implement and maintain Safety Management Systems (SMS) to standardize hazard assessments and control measures. -Recommend process improvements to reduce risk and improve safety outcomes. -Foster employee participation through recognition programs and open communication. -Coach and mentor Safety Managers and Supervisors to enhance leadership capability. -Develop and execute manufacturing safety strategies aligned with company and regulatory standards. -Manage contractor qualification and safety performance programs. -Promote a strong, proactive safety culture.

What You Bring

-Exposure to typical manufacturing conditions including noise and moving machinery. -Combination of office and plant environments with regular production floor visits. -Equivalent experience may be considered. -Associate degree with 10+ years, bachelor’s with 8+ years, or master’s with 6+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing. -Lift up to 50 lbs. and navigate confined or elevated spaces. -Expertise in OSHA 29 CFR 1910, NFPA, RCRA, and industrial hygiene practices. -Travel 25–40% for audits, inspections, and training. -Preferred certifications: CSP, ASP, CHST, or ISO 45001 Lead Auditor. -Proven leadership in multi-site safety management and continuous improvement.
