Overview
Maintain, repair, install and inspect water distribution system and fire hydrants.

Tasks
-Raise to grade Company facilities such as curb and valve boxes -Work indoors and outdoors in all types of weather and temperatures. -Adhere to all Company policies and practices at all times. -Digs trenches to remove defective pipes and install new, loads and unloads pipes and fittings, pours concrete and caulks pipes as necessary. -Operate/maintain air compressor and other tools used as part of job. -Respond to inquiries accurately and professionally and, when necessary, involve the appropriate individuals to resolve customer and Company-related issues to achieve the highest level of Customer Service in all areas of responsibility. -Operate a forklift to load/unload equipment -Record pertinent data and maintain accurate records in the electronic work order system and field tablets. -Regularly climb in and out of trenches. -Report conditions in the field that may adversely impact Customer Service or public safety, as well as conditions that may result in damage to Company facilities. -Locate Company underground facilities and initiate requests to mark-out other utilities' facilities. -Investigate and diagnose hydraulic variations that may adversely impact system operations and customer service, and initiate corrective action. -Collect and evaluate water samples, as directed, in accordance with established water quality practices. -Routinely bend, crouch, kneel, work in confined spaces, and work over one's head. -Routinely walk on uneven ground and slopes. -Occasionally lift and carry objects weighing as much as 75 pounds unassisted. -Locate, access, operate, and repair Company facilities such as mains, hydrants, blow-offs, services, curb stops, distribution valves, shutoff valves, and plumbing fixtures. -Complete the installation of facilities, including but not limited to, water services, main extensions, fire hydrants, valves, and any other T&D Crew work -Transport materials to and from facilities and/or job sites. -Restore service to frozen Company facilities, as required. -Perform job responsibilities with minimal supervision in a timely manner -Operates equipment, drives utility to perform necessary job functions. -Prepare Company facilities for adverse weather conditions. -Perform distribution system tests, including but not limited to, fire flows, customer service lines, and pressure losses.

What You Bring
-Ability to communicate effectively with the public and fellow employees. -Current Delaware Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred but not required. If not, must obtain per the collective bargaining agreement once hired. -Excellent customer service skills. -Ability to learn new water industry technology and use it properly. -Basic plumbing or mechanical training/courses would be beneficial, but not required -High School Diploma/GED is required. -Attain a working knowledge of the Transmission and Distribution system within 6 months of hire -Ability to read, troubleshoot and perform work from schematics or drawings -1 to 3 years minimum experience as a plumber/utility/construction worker installing water main and/or appurtenances up to 24” diameter (to include fire/domestic water services, fire hydrants, repair clamps, etc.) -Knowledge of OSHA and safety policies. -Good physical condition to be able to meet the physical requirements necessary to hand excavate and perform the various lifting, bending, and carrying items
