This is a senior leadership role combining strategic oversight, technical excellence, and mentorship, shaping both the growth of the team and the delivery of high-impact infrastructure projects.

Lead strategy. Mentor teams. Deliver innovative surface water solutions.

  • Impactful Work: Lead projects that influence flood risk management, stormwater infrastructure, and resilient communities.
  • Lead technical efforts including surface water modeling, drainage design, regulatory submittals, and project documentation.
  • Provide executive leadership for hydrology, hydraulics, and surface water projects across planning, design, and construction phases.
  • Strategic Leadership: Shape the direction and growth of a high-impact H&H practice.
  • Mentor engineers and technical staff, supporting professional development and fostering technical excellence.
  • Professional Development: Mentor and develop the next generation of engineering leaders.
  • Direct preparation of competitive proposals, qualifications packages, and responses to public and private solicitations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, municipal partners, and regulatory agencies.
  • Engage actively in technical organizations and community initiatives to elevate the firm’s visibility and influence.
  • Networking & Visibility: Represent the firm in industry groups and community initiatives.
  • Supervise specialized investigations related to flood risk, FEMA documentation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee project scopes, fee structures, and service agreements to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Standardize design practices, promote innovative modeling workflows, and guide quality assurance.

A leading engineering and consulting firm is seeking a seasoned Vice President – Hydrology & Hydraulics (H&H) to lead and expand our surface water and stormwater practice.

  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the relevant state.
  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) designation is a bonus.
  • Proven ability to manage and mentor multi-disciplinary teams across all experience levels.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and client-facing skills.
  • Track record of maintaining long-term client relationships and managing complex projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent technical field.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in stormwater, drainage, or floodplain management, including 10+ years in leadership or supervisory roles.
