Senior Project Architect

Overview

Lead design and delivery of architecture projects in education, healthcare, labs, corporate.

Tasks

-Assignments may include working with a team through programming, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning, construction documentation, and construction administration activities, with the expectation of gradual independence and demonstrated leadership in these areas. -Build on industry network, potentially through trade organizations, local events, speaking, or conferences where applicable -Develop knowledge of Ballinger’s project types (health care, academic/lab/research, corporate/workspace) through the job experience, repetition, and scalability of tasks and responsibilities -Work with external consultants, product reps, and fabricators -Participate in construction administration related activities as applicable to the level of responsibility by project -Generate redlines in a documentation set -Travel as project requirements dictate for surveys and field/site visits during construction -Perform ongoing studies for process improvement -Mentor team members with less experience -Act as a team-wide mentor and actively share knowledge -Conduct design-related research -Lead large scale or multiple projects, develop work plans and project execution strategies with the Project Manager -Lead team 3D renderings -Interfaces and leads all disciplines during the design/coordination phases -Develop design or technical solutions with the Project Manager and Principal -Accountability for budget adherence -Advise on firm standards (RUG / Technical / Templates / Specs) -Engage in internal project leadership (lead a component or discipline within a project team) -Present and provide day to day support to client and external project team -Engage in external project leadership (lead project with client and contractor) -Interface and coordinate with other disciplines

What You Bring

-Strong written and verbal communication, problem solving, and time management skills -Strong knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and specifications -Demonstration of superior technical skills, dedication and ownership of work -Ability to provide direction within a large team -Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) -Demonstration of targeted expertise with a key role in the firm -High level of responsiveness and collaboration with contractors and clients -Self-starter, able to independently generate design solutions and give direction to other team members -Graphics and visualization skills to effectively communicate design ideas -15+ years of design experience preferred -Attention to detail -Registered Architect (RA) -Highly versed with preparing full sets of design documents using Revit, Bluebeam -Bachelor or Master of Architecture -Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications -BS or BA degree in Architecture or equivalent (or knowledge gained over years of work experience) -Proficiency in one of the following: Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape or other modeling software applications -Superb production, analytical, and communication skills and be able to perform well in a design environment.
