The Role

Assist with month‑end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting for residential and commercial properties.

Tasks

The Staff Accountant will assist the Assistant Controller with the month-end closing for all residential and commercial properties. Complete daily accounting tasks requiring a basic level of accounting knowledge across a variety of responsibilities. Also, will include (but not limited to) posting monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, general ledger variance analysis, and development of weekly and monthly financial reports. -Download all bank statements and loan statements. -Post deposits/refunds received and intercompany transfers. -Process Bill backs from corporate to respective properties in the portfolios. -Prepare Financial Statement packages for ownership. -Monthly calculation and posting of management fees. -Perform Credit card monthly reconciliations. -Ensure that the General Ledger account and GL coding are correct on all receipts and expenditures. -Perform Daily Bank Reconciliations for all residential and commercial properties. -Maintain depreciation and accrual Excel spreadsheets. -Process reclasses received from property managers. -Prepare annual 1099’s. -Assist Assistant Controllers with quarterly inventory counts at properties. -Assist with audit functions with payables and receivables. -Execute accurate and timely reporting during the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.

What You Bring

-Strong data entry skills and good team player -Must have good time management and the ability to meet deadlines. -Experience in real estate property management accounting (preferred but not required) -2 years of accounting and financial experience. -Proficient in computer skills in Excel, Word, QuickBooks, and Adobe Acrobat. -Knowledge of general reporting and reconciliations -Must be organized, self-motivated, with excellent interpersonal skills. -Bachelor’s degree with a business major in accounting. -Must have excellent written and verbal communication and problem-solving abilities. -Experience with Yardi Voyager, Yardi Elevate, ResMan, and AvidXchange is preferred. -Ability to function as part of a team and the ability to work independently. -Accuracy and attention to detail. -Communication and professional attitude, and work ethics.
