The Role

Overview

Summer internship assisting highway design tasks and field work

Tasks

-Conduct basic engineering functions including computer-aided design, calculations and cost estimating under the direct supervision of senior engineers and managers. -Put classroom lessons to work in a practical, real-world situation. -Assist technical staff with day-to-day design tasks for various types of transportation and traffic projects. -Visit projects under construction and assist with field reconnaissance under the supervision of a senior engineer or project manager. -Collaborate as a member of the Highway-Traffic team to realize project deliverables and deadlines.

What You Bring

-Must have reliable transportation to the office. -Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related program. -Possess solid problem-solving skills. -Interest in roadway and highway/traffic design preferred. -Must be able to work in a high-paced environment. -Basic understanding of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation preferred. -Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills. -Strong computer literacy, to include MS Office.
