Tasks
The Major Gifts Director will develop and execute strategies for deepening donor relationships, increasing philanthropic revenue, and building long-term engagement with individuals capable of making significant financial contributions. The ideal candidate is donor-focused, collaborative, and skilled at relationship-building, strategy, and communication. -Stay current on major giving trends, donor psychology, and best practices in nonprofit fundraising. -Create customized cultivation and solicitation plans for each donor in the portfolio. -Provide major gift reports and portfolio metrics to necessary staff. -Solicit major gifts ($5,000+) from individuals, families, and family foundations. -Maintain accurate records of donor interactions and gift history using donor management software. -Develop and manage a portfolio of 150–200+ major gift prospects and donors. -Support donor stewardship efforts including thank-you calls, personalized notes, impact reports, and recognition. -Plan and support cultivation events and donor appreciation activities. -40 hours/week; may include early mornings, evenings and weekends for donor meetings and events -Collaborate with leadership and program staff to identify funding needs and impact stories. -Represent Habitat at events, build external relationships, and engage in community outreach as needed. -Partner with Development and Marketing staff on campaign strategy, messaging, and donor engagement. -Create compelling donor materials including proposals, case statements, reports, and updates in collaboration with Development and Marketing staff members. -Conduct regular in-person meetings, calls, and written communications to build relationships and increase giving.

What You Bring

Evergreen Habitat is seeking a passionate and experienced fundraising professional to serve as our Major Gifts Director. This role is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of major donors and prospects to support Evergreen Habitat’s strategic priorities and affordable housing mission. All Evergreen Habitat for Humanity employees must be vaccinated unless a medical exemption is in place. -Minimum 3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with demonstrated success in major gift solicitation. -Knowledge of donor stewardship practices, planned giving, and capital campaigns a plus. -Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, including donor-facing communication, one on one meetings, presentations, etc. -Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills; high emotional intelligence. -While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position for long periods while operating a computer to create documents, conducting research, sending and receiving e-mail and participating in meetings; communicating on a telephone and in person; reading and writing; applying logic and focusing attention in the presence of distractions. Occasional requirements are to move about the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Must be able to lift 25-50 lbs. Evening and weekend work may be required. -Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. -Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet fundraising targets and deadlines. -Experience managing a donor portfolio using donor database systems (e.g., Blackbaud, Salesforce, Bloomerang, etc.). -Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred. -Self-motivated and goal-driven, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
