Tasks

-Documentation including development of text, graphics, tables, etc. in technical memoranda and reports -Assists direct reports in setting and accomplishing goals that advance their professional development -Work with leadership to grow traffic team in the Denver area. -Leads a growing team of mid-level and junior engineers in the execution of smaller standalone traffic engineering projects, or traffic entering tasks as part of larger projects -Responsible for traffic engineering services in the state of Colorado collaborating with other AECOM teams including roadway, structural, and transit designers, planners, and architects. -Works collaboratively with other statewide traffic engineering leads in other states to coordinate business activities and project delivery throughout the US West region. -Performs or oversees—with little supervision—all aspects of traffic engineering studies including data collection, microsimulation model development and calibration or other deterministic models such as Synchro, HCS, Vistro, or Sidra, traffic forecasting, and analysis of alternatives -Works collaboratively with other discipline leads in the Denver office to perform business development activities such as identification of project opportunities, marketing clients, making technical presentations at conferences, assisting with proposal preparation, and assisting with recruiting efforts -Coordinates workload projections for direct reports and coordinates with other discipline leads in the Colorado offices and traffic groups in surrounding states to coordinate workshare opportunities -Presents technical findings to internal project teams, clients, and the public -Provides day-to-day direct mentoring and guidance to mid-level and junior engineers in the execution of their tasks -Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule -Proposes approaches to solve new problems encountered and create efficiencies in work through use of modifications to standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments -Follows AECOM and client process in performing quality control tasks of other engineers’ work -Assists project managers in the development of scopes of work, cost estimates, and schedules

What You Bring

-Experience working with Metropolitan Planning Organizations to prepare traffic projections -Deep proficiency with Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, and HCS software, the calibration and validation of these tools, with the ability to understand and apply model results relative to application within a broader project -Project management experience -Experience with traditional four step or activity-based travel demand models -Professional Engineer license in the State of Colorado, or the ability to obtain license within 6 months -Experience in technical execution of tasks for traffic engineering projects relative to traffic engineering including analyses and design -Working relationships and experience with agencies such as CDOT, RTD, DOTI, DEN, DRCOG, and other cities and counties. -Ability to work with and inform highway, bridge, and transit design teams in the development of laneage requirements, intersection and interchange layouts, and non-motorized considerations, relying on a broad and practical understanding of project geometrics -Expertise with Highway Capacity Manual, HSM, MUTCD and FHWA Traffic Analysis Toolkit methodologies including common traffic engineering software packages -Experience in traffic safety analysis including Highway Safety Manual, traffic signal warrants, traffic signal and pedestrian crossing control system analysis, and design; and traffic signing and pavement marking analysis and design -BA/BS + 10 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education -Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification -Experience with MicroStation or other similar applications -Experience in mentorship and development of traffic engineering interns and/or junior staff -Experience in task/project management, staff oversight, application and development of technical skills, and experience working directly with internal and external clients -Proficient in presenting to clients and laypersons -Proficient with standard Microsoft Office applications -Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) -Experience in traffic engineering projects in Colorado. -Professional Engineer (PE) license -15+ years of experience in traffic engineering -Experience in supporting business development activities including preparing project proposals and firm marketing
