Tasks

-Use and maintain a variety of Industrial Hygiene equipment, understand their maintenance and security -Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) by providing technical expertise and advice on Health Hazards and applicable standards -Support the Implementation of Industrial Hygiene Exposure Assessment Strategy -Oversee the completion of qualitative and quantitative workplace assessments and recommend corrective actions -Support processes, programs, and systems to recognize, evaluate, and control chemical, physical, biological and ergonomic hazards in a large refining facility -Provide emergency response support in the management of hazardous substance -Support the implementation of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) requirements -Use electronic database to manage Industrial Hygiene data ensuring data quality -Follow the established performance evaluation process, working closely with your manager to implement SMART goals -Support the development and implementation of exposure control tools, e.g. exposure control projects; industrial ventilation planning, PPE selection and utilization -Support the implementation of various safety and health awareness programs to promote the wellbeing of the workforce -Provide IH support in non-routine maintenance activity i.e., Turnaround and other major projects

What You Bring

-Able to work extended hours during annual Turnarounds -Proactive when working with stakeholders and able to adapt to different situations -Ability to collaborate with others in a team environment -University education in science, engineering, or equivalent experience -Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)/Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH) designation would be an asset or willingness to obtain -Experience in the oil and gas industry is a definite asset -Demonstrate collaborative leadership, coach for both technical and professional skillsets, and have an infectious enthusiasm for excellence and safety -Able to balance multiple priorities -Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and courage of conviction -Collaborative, able to build credibility and trust quickly with stakeholders -Master’s degree in Industrial Hygiene or related health and safety field is an advantage -Self-motivated; ability to work independently -Strong verbal and effective communication skills -Ability to adjust communication style and speak the language of different stakeholder groups -Minimum 3 years of experience in an industrial environment with at least 1 years in a directly related industrial hygiene role
