Estimating Manager, Industrial/Manufacturing

Tasks

-Reads and outlines project specifications. -Improves project profitability opportunities by applying basic understanding of insurance structures, fees and rates. -Develops and manages scopes of work for all trades, including responsibility matrix, distribution of plans and specifications, and pricing, bid solicitation and coordination for vendors and subcontractors. -Prepares complex cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals. -Assists with system analysis of building components and MEP systems and assists operations staff on project logistics, staging, phasing plans, and coordination. -Maintains an audit trail of the quantity survey from estimate to estimate. -Collaborates with operations and field staff to develop more economical ways to construct projects during the preconstruction process. -Supports the distribution of plans and specifications to vendors/subcontractors. -Tracks value creation items from development through inclusion and documents in project documentation. -Supports vendor/subcontractor pricing/bid solicitation and coordination. -Coordinates bid day summaries, general requirements and participates in project procurement presentations. -Prepares material and other costs summary for quotes from vendors. -Provides professional and comprehensive deliverables at the completion of each major estimate. -Works collaboratively and creates relationships with a variety of stakeholders, such as project team members, subcontractors, vendors and clients. -Provides training and mentorship to others. -Performs quantity survey of materials shown on project plans.

What You Bring

-Proficiency in MS Office with emphasis on strong Excel skills (Intermediate). -Knowledge of self-perform and labor productivity. -Occasional activity: Standing, Walking, Bending, Climbing, Reaching above Shoulder, Pushing, Pulling -Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications (Intermediate). -Gains self-perform estimating experience. -Ability to develop General Requirement estimates. -Proficiency in required construction technology. -May require periods of overnight travel -Proficiency in construction estimating software (Intermediate). -Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs -Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work (Intermediate). -Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner. -Knowledge of field operations through project support. -Frequent activity: Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen -Ability to prepare quantity surveys. -Valid and unrestricted drivers license required -Utilizes knowledge of the project schedule and logistics in project estimates. -Knowledge of the means and methods of construction management (Intermediate). -Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally. -3+ years estimating experience. -Knowledge of Lean process and philosophy. -Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field (Preferred). -Communication skills, verbal and written (Intermediate). -In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered. -Ability to conduct effective presentations. -Ability to develop proficiency in Lens, Revit and/or ASE software. -Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds -Preference for total of 5+ years construction experience.
