Tool and Die Maintenance Technician

Overview

Inspect, maintain, repair, manage extrusion dies and tooling, ensuring proper function and safety.

Tasks

-Record and document Tool and die condition including CTQ and shape dimensions. -Maintain adequate attendance levels, be prompt, a “can do” attitude, and work overtime as needed. -Visually inspect all incoming tooling from the production floor & log into PM software. -Maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards, making proper use of PPE, and use of LOTO, as required. -Actively participate in Toolroom department team meetings. -Maintain complete inventory and storage of dies within the Tool Management System. -Operate Die Maintenance Sonic Tank and Extrude hone to clean residual debris left during the extrusion process. -Ensure dies are properly reassembled by replacing bolts and stoning plates, as needed. -Train operators proper care of extrusion dies, as needed. -Support Tool and Die shop as needed, including repairs. -Ensure proper die functioning in relation to maintenance and cleaning, dismantling, reassembly and start up. -Report any damage or excessive wear to Team lead and Process Engineering. -Utilize various tools and processes on extrusion tooling to maintain industry standards on all visible surfaces. -Use hand tools for disassembly and reassembly of dies, such as brass bars, rubber mallets, Allen wrenches, etc. -Reference Production plan to gather tooling as needed for production runs or new product development/ Tuning. -Maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards, making proper use of PPE, as required.

What You Bring

-Must be able to use a computer. -Prior Machine shop and or Tool and Die Experience. -Must be able to work independently or in a group setting. -Must be able to “lead by example” and train others, as needed. -Extrusion knowledge a plus. -Strong time management, organizational, and record keeping skills. -Requires a strong mechanical background. -Must be able to use a computer and Microsoft Office. -Trade school or equivalent experience. -Applied knowledge of hand tools and proper use on extrusion dies. -Must have strong time management, organizational, and record keeping skills.
