Tasks

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our specialist conservation and restoration team, working on Grade II listed buildings and other historically significant assets. This role will involve overseeing cost management across a portfolio of sensitive refurbishment, conservation, and adaptive reuse projects, ensuring that all works respect statutory requirements, conservation principles, and the unique fabric of heritage structures. -Support clients in securing funding from heritage bodies, grants, or local authorities where required. -Prepare and oversee detailed cost plans, estimates, bills of quantities and tender documentation for heritage restoration projects. -Ensure works comply with Grade II listed building regulations, conservation area requirements, and national heritage guidance. -Contribute to risk assessments, project audits, and value engineering options that respect historic integrity. -Advise on the cost implications of traditional building techniques, specialist materials, and conservation methodologies. -Provide ongoing cost reporting, valuations, change control, and financial forecasting throughout project lifecycles. -Conduct site visits and condition assessments with conservation architects, structural engineers, and heritage consultants. -Manage procurement processes, negotiate with specialist contractors, and monitor project expenditure.

What You Bring

-Proficiency in standard QS software (e.g., CostX, BCIS, Excel). -MRICS or working towards chartership preferred. -Experience working specifically with Grade II listed buildings (or other listed structures) is highly desirable. -Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly with heritage consultants and regulatory bodies. -Strong understanding of conservation principles, traditional building materials, and period construction methods. -Minimum 5 - 7 years’ experience in quantity surveying, ideally within conservation, restoration, or traditional construction.
