The Role

Overview

Lead commercial delivery for HVDC power projects, managing teams and contracts

Tasks

-Manage the preparation of the monthly CVR and associated commercial reports. -Provides commercial input to Value Engineering reviews for different forms of construction. -To be able to report and explain the commercial progress to senior project staff. -Leading the commercial delivery of major power sector projects, ensuring outcomes that are profitable, sustainable, and aligned with client expectations. -To support the review of tenders, including estimates, cost data and contract reviews. -Co-ordination of buying, accounts, production control/planning, supply chain management & procurement techniques, estimating & surveying functions. -Coaching and developing your team, raising the standard at every level. -Driving commercial strategy, managing risk, and ensuring strong governance across complex contracts. -Establish client supply chain requirements & advise on alternative forms of contract & procurement arrangements. -Building trusted relationships with clients, stakeholders, and partners through transparency, integrity, and delivery.

What You Bring

-FIDIC contract experience desirable, but not essential. -Strong alignment with Balfour Beatty’s values — Lean, Expert, Trusted, Safe — and the ability to bring these to life daily in how you lead, deliver, and inspire others. -Track record of managing and developing a commercial team and be themselves a Chartered Member or Fellow of the RICS, ICES or CIOB, and a mentor/role model to other commercial staff on their journey to becoming professionally qualified. -A proven track record as a Managing QS (or a Senior QS ready to step up) with significant experience in large-scale infrastructure, energy, or power projects. -The full suite of professional QS skills and qualifications — but more importantly, the ability to apply them in real-world, high-pressure environments.
